SEAT (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo) is a Spanish car manufacturer that was founded in 1950 after a collaboration with FIAT. The aim was to produce affordable and domestic cars for the Spanish industry. Their first car, the SEAT 1400, rolled off the assembly line in 1953. It was a rear-wheel-drive, mid-size sedan or large family car and was a rebranded FIAT 1400. SEAT continued to produce models based on FIAT designs but with localised adaptations. They reached a turning point when they released the SEAT 124 in 1968, a popular model which helped them to solidify their brand within the European market.

Another moment of success for SEAT was when they started designing their own models and stopped relying on FIAT’s creations for their framework.
