Volvo is a Swedish manufacturer from Gothenburg. The name Volvo means ‘I roll’ in Latin and their first car, Jakob, was released in 1927. Their cars were based on the principles of safety and practicality which still applies today.

In the 60s, Volvo started to gain a US market with their production of the PV444 which offered American styling in a European sized car. Around the same time Volvo were the pioneers of the three-point safety seatbelts headed up by their Head of Safety Engineering, Nils Bohlin. 

Sleek and more rounded designs made their headline in 1996 with the V40 which saw new life again with generation 11’s production from 2012-2019. Still on Volvo’s production line presently are Volvo XC40, XC90, XC60 and XC40 Recharge. These models range from the 2002 SUV to the recently introduced all-electric version of the XC40.
