Whenever we fit a new tyre we always ensure that it is rebalanced as part of the service but why is this important?
Balancing a wheel ensures that the weight is distributed evenly around the wheel and thereby making sure the tyre rotates evenly. The process involves adding small weights to the rim of the wheel which counters any inconsistencies in the rim. For example if one side of the wheel is heavier than the other, the balance would need to be evened up by adding the small weights to the other side of the wheel.
An incorrectly balanced wheel can have a major impact on your driving experience and mean that you do not enjoy a comfortable ride. Imbalance can cause vibration and also impact the life of the tyres along with causing issues with your steering and suspension.
We utilise machinery in our centres to ensure precision balancing is carried out by running the tyre on the unit and identifying exactly where any imbalance can be found, this is the address by adding weights until the wheel is equally balanced.
